Dr. Aaron Shirley

Dr. Aaron Shirley, a pioneering physician of rural and urban health care for the state of Mississippi, recently began adapting health care delivery techniques imported from Iran as part of his ongoing, lifelong efforts to improve the quality of life for citizens of the rural Mississippi Delta. Dr. Shirley has been working in collaboration with Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Iran to import the Iranian model of “health houses,” primary care facilities staffed by trained local medical experts. These experts go door to door in their communities, developing ongoing relationships with the people they treat as well as a familiarity with the neighborhood’s health patterns, offering an uncommon level of intimate knowledge with incredible value to professionals and patients alike.
