Yes, this quirky video by David Friedman is a great window into how the digital camera was first invented in 1975. But what's even more enlightening is inventor Steven Sasson's take on how decisions about paring down the concept were made so that the invention would be more widely digested and embraced by the general public:
The key, I think, when you're putting across an idea is you have to understand the culture you're dealing with, first and foremost, and put everything very much like the culture is use to. And then put...the essential elements of your idea out there so it doesn't get confused with things that might complicate the concept.
