Image-wise: Openpaths.cc data visualized

A couple of weeks ago we spoke with Michael Zimbalist from the New York Times' Research and Development Lab about a project the Lab launched, openpaths.cc, an anonymous user-contributed database for the personal location data files recorded by iPhones and iPads. Today, we came across this image (via Jer Thorp) that visualizes the isolines representing the places that one user, Chris Woebken, has spent the majority of his time, based on his openpaths.cc data. (Note the frequent trips back and forth between Manhattan and Brooklyn.)
The visualization process is explained by the photographer on Flickr:
I generate custom gcode to trace the already printed path while extruding more plastic. It needs a little more tweaking to look better, some parts are too close to the surface and others are too far.
