There's always something brewing in the PopTech community. From the world-changing people, projects and ideas in our network, a handful of this week's highlights follows.
- Save the Tiger Fund and Panthera, whose founder Alan Rabinowitz spoke at PopTech 2010, have joined forces in the fight to save tigers in the wild.
- Last week, a New York Times Fixes article explored how 2010 Social Innovation Fellow Brian Elliot's Friendfactor is helping to move real-life friends to action for gay rights.
- Serbian activist Ivan Marovic (PopTech 2005) connects the virtual world to the real world with a video game entitled People Power (formerly A Force More Powerful) to promote nonviolent resistance strategies. This week, six years after presenting at PopTech, we checked in with Marovic for an update on the status of People Power as well as how he’s been contributing to and learning from the uprisings in the Middle East.
- Comedian Reggie Watts (PopTech 2006, PopTech 2010) is profiled in July's Playboy Magazine.
