There's always something brewing in the PopTech community. From the world-changing people, projects and ideas in our network, a handful of this week's highlights follows.
- Earlier this week, YouTube sensation Zee Avi (PopTech 2009) released an EP of remixes for the song ‘Concrete Wall’ available on Amazon or iTunes. Our favorite? The RAC Remix.
- Computational neuroscientist Sebastian Seung (Living Systems Salon 2010) conducts pioneering research on the wiring of the brain, and what it reveals about genetics, personality, and memory. Seung's new book, Connectome: How the Brain's Wiring Makes Us Who We Are was released on Tuesday.
- Graphic facilitator Perrin Ireland saw a Wired article by Jonah Lehrer (PopTech 2009) interviewing Allan Jones, CEO of the Allen Institute for Brain Science, and just had to illustrate it. The Brain is One Awesomely Complicated Piece of Meat, one of the drawings inspired by the article, is the Scientific American’s image of the week. Ireland’s PopTech 2011 speaker sketches can be viewed here.
