Clifford Saron

Science Fellow 2011

Associate Research Scientist, Center for Mind and Brain, University of California, Davis

Clifford Saron focuses on two broad areas: the effects of intensive meditation training, and the brain processes of children with autism spectrum disorders. How can we understand the personal and physiological changes brought about by contemplative practice? And how do certain brain deficits play a part in autism? Cliff has published in the Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychological Science and Frontiers in Neuroscience, and received support from private foundations and the National Institute of Mental Health. His work is providing scientific insights into the potential benefits of meditation, and revealing new aspects of the causes of social and communication difficulties of autism spectrum disorders, with implications for the development of new treatments.
