Eric Beckman is the founder and co-director of the Mascaro Center for Sustainability Innovation (MCSI) and a Professor of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. MCSI is a major hub for groundbreaking research on sustainable design and supports collaborative projects with other scientists in the industry. His research on molecular design aims to create greener chemical products and develop materials to support biomedical research. In addition, Beckman has published over 170 papers in peer-reviewed journals, has over 50 patents and published applications and in 2002 received the Green Chemistry award. In 2004 he co-founded Cohera Medical, Inc., a device firm that is commercializing a biocompatible, resorbable adhesive that can be used internally during surgery.
