Robert Neuwirth is the author of Shadow Cities: A Billion Squatters, A New Urban World. His business and investigative writings have appeared in a variety of publications, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Scientific American, Harper's , Fortune, Forbes, The Nation and Wired. Neuwirth has taught in the college program at Rikers Island, New York City's jail, and at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. His work has been supported by the Fund for Investigative Journalism, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and the Nation Institute. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.
