Peter Waeber is an expert on environmental and sustainability issues worldwide. He has been the chief executive officer of bluesign technologies ag since its founding in 2000. The company strives to establish a new, independent standard for the textile and related industry that can be applied to the entire production chain. This includes resource savings, removing the use of hazardous substances, optimization of manufacturing processes and a strong commitment to environmental and human protection, health and safety. Waeber started his career as a researcher in the chemical industry. He then became the executive manager in different Swiss textile mills and served as chief executive officer in a Swiss printing mill and technical director and member of the board at Schoeller Textiles. Waeber has volunteered as president of the Swiss Association of Textile and Chemistry and is a former member and delegate of council with IFATCC (International Federation of Associations of Textile Chemists and Colourists). He is also an active participant in research and development in cutting-edge technologies for textiles and holds patents in nanotechnology for textiles.
