Phil Waywell
Ecomaterials Innovation Lab

Phil Waywell is scientific lead for the Catalytic Textiles project. Within this project, Waywell and his colleagues are developing a mechanism by which textile substrates can be converted into catalyst supports. These textile/catalyst systems would then be capable of degrading harmful airborne pollutants such as nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds. Waywell has also been a freelance Science Communicator at Junior Café Scientifique and a research consultant for NESTA-funded Free Radicals. He is a scientific advisor to the London College of Fashion, and completed a master’s in Chemistry and a Ph.D. as a member of the Biomolecular NMR Group at the University of Sheffield.
