Photographer Chris Jordan specializes in large-scale works that depict the magnitude of our consumerism and its impact on our environment. In one of the most emotional presentations at PopTech 2009, Jordan shares heart-wrenching images of birds killed by ingesting plastics that increasingly pollute our oceans.

Recicling should start with design. We have to stop creating little plastic useless stuff.

An eye-opener….heart wrenching. For starters, I believe this production by Chris Jordan should be shown at every high school throughout the U.S.

An eye opener. As humans we have and we are still destroying the earth. Some people think we have evolved and kept up with all the changes so far and will probably evolve to keep up with the changes happening. The truth is, we are changing the environmental conditions a lot faster than we can actually keep up with. It’s the time to do something to protect our home. We can’t just blame the companies for producing all the plastic, we as consumers should also take responsibilities and stop the consumption of plastic packaged goods. We should shape production of goods we consume to reduce the damage we are causing.

I am glad people like Chris have taken their time to reveal what we wouldn’t notice otherwise.

We (the human species) are the makers of the "black plague"…or in other words something deadly, insidious, metabolic and far reaching…. and it is our doing….Look at what we have done.

Que pena que tengan que sufrir los animales, y la tierra… por todo esta insesates del ser humano.
This has stopped me Cold + left my Heart Heavy. I cry in silence for what man is doing in his/her unawareness. We need to wake up before it is too late; or is it already too late?

A great story – thanks for making the clip available. We need to return to the emphasis on deposit/return methods – and attache the practice to many more products – down to the mundane. For example: plastic bottles be worth more – it they are turned back in with the caps on the bottle – rather than lost in the waste stream – or worse – dumped into the environment to be picked up by wildlife. Plastic can and does serve us – it needs to be better managed at the end of its usefullness.
