Maureen Orth

Maureen Orth is an award-winning journalist, a special correspondent for Vanity Fair and author of two books. Her best-selling, Vulgar Favors: The Assassination of Gianni Versace, was the basis of FX’s Emmy award winning, American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianna Versace. She is a former Colombia Peace Corps volunteer in Medellin where a school she helped build is named for her.

In 2005, she founded the Marina Orth Foundation that provide computers, STEM, English and leadership training in 21 schools in and around Medellin. In addition, the foundation’s robotics clubs teach coding and programming beginning in kindergarten. In 2015, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos awarded her the Cruz de San Carlos, Colombia’s highest civilian award for service to the country.
