John Sculley

John was Pepsi’s CEO for five years, during which time the company’s successful “Pepsi Generation” and “Pepsi Challenge” marketing campaigns enabled the brand to become the largest-selling packaged goods in America.

In 1983, Steve Jobs recruited John to Apple to bring big-brand marketing to the high-tech industry. Together, Jobs and Sculley successfully launched Macintosh and desktop publishing. During John’s decade as Apple’s CEO, Macintosh went on to become the #1-selling PC in the world.

Since leaving Apple, John has pursued venture capitalism. Successful early-stage companies he worked with, which either went public and/or were sold, include Professional SportsCare, Select Comfort, NFO Research, Intralinks, Hotwire and InPhonic.

Elizabeth Talerman

Before launching a strategy practice in 2002, Elizabeth was founder and CEO of Agile Industries, a pioneering digital marketing agency. She’s also held senior positions at Ogilvy & Mather and The Harvard Business School as Marketing Director. She began her career in direct marketing analytics and project management.

Elizabeth currently teaches in the School of Visual Arts Brand Masters program. She is a frequent lecturer at Barnard College, teaches courses at Columbia University’s Strategic Communications masters degree program and served 16 years on the board of Virginia Commonwealth University Brandcenter.

She is a member of the board of directors of Mohawk, North America’s largest privately held fine paper company, an advisor to Populist, which helps social enterprises around the globe bring life-changing products and services to market, and founder of Euphoria Baking Company.

Nick Martin

The TechChange model for technology training has been featured in the New York TimesForbesEconomistFast Company and more. Nick is a PopTech Social Innovation Fellow (2013), an Ariane de Rothschild Fellow (2014), and an International Youth Foundation Global Fellow (2009).

He is also an adjunct faculty member at Georgetown and George Washington Universities where he teaches graduate courses on Technology for Social Change, Technology for International Crisis Response, and Mobile Phones for International Development. Nick received his BA with honors from Swarthmore College and holds an MA in Peace Education from the United Nations University for Peace (UPEACE).

Alexandra Lee

Prior to joining Redscout, Alexandra was the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Partnerships for Crush & Lovely, a creative design and digital agency in NY. During her tenure, she established relationships with clients such as NPR, National Geographic Society, Neighborhood Centers Inc, and Tippet Rise Arts Center. Alexandra also spent four years leading online strategy and communications for Doctors Without Borders.

She began her career spearheading fundraising and community outreach initiatives for education and arts non profits in the US and UK. Alexandra holds a degree in Political Science from Wellesley College, with additional coursework from the London School of Economics. She is a board member of the Friends of Art at the Davis Museum and advises education and public health non-profit organizations in New York and South Africa.

Erik Hersman

He is also a co-founder of Ushahidi, and has also established afrigadget.com and whiteafrican.com as key online communities promoting creative solutions entrepreneurship and development challenges across Africa. He is also a general partner in the Savannah Fund, and sits on the boards of Akirachix, Angani, the Kijabe Forest Trust, and the Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative (WPDI). Kimberley Gardiner

After 15 years with Toyota, and a short stint in the startup world, she recently joined Kia Motors America as their Director of Marketing Communications where she heads up the brand’s advertising, media, digital/social and experiential marketing programs.

Known for being an action-oriented visionary, Kimberley is looking forward to working with the Board to help PopTech grow its partner/sponsor programming.

Raj Gollamudi

Before joining Omidyar, Raj was a General Partner of BlueStream Ventures, a $300 million technology venture capital firm which he co-founded in 2000. Raj also spent five years as an equity research analyst at technology investment banking firms Thomas Weisel Partners and RBC Capital Markets, where he covered a range of software sectors.

Raj began his career as a software developer at Sun Microsystems and was an early employee at Lucid, a venture-funded software startup. Raj has an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School, a Master’s in Computer Science from Clemson University, and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from BITS Pilani in India.

Raj is Charter Member at TiE, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship across the world. Raj has also served as a mentor at Santa Clara University’s Global Social Benefit Incubator.

Eric Hellweg

Hellweg joined HBR in February 2006 as the organization’s first online hire, and served as the Editor of HBR.org for seven years. During his time at HBR, the site grew from 150k monthly uniques to over 6 million, and has become a leader across social media channels.

Eric led the relaunch of HBR.org in late 2014 and the site has won several awards since the launch, including Best Design from Digiday and the 2016 Webby for Best Business Site.

Prior to joining HBR, Hellweg served as an executive editor at Forrester Research and an online columnist at CNN Money and MIT’s Technology Review. Hellweg was a founding editor of Business 2.0 magazine.

Other previous engagements include writing for publications such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, Wired, SPIN, and many others. Eric is also a musician and has opened up for bands such as the Allman Brothers, Phil Lesh, Levon Helm, North Mississippi All-Stars and more.

Vanessa De Luca

De Luca was named to the post in July 2013. De Luca first joined ESSENCE more than a decade ago as Beauty and Fashion Features Editor, where she directed all style and beauty sections. In 2003, she was named Lifestyle Director, responsible for coverage including food, home, parenting and technology. Additionally, De Luca was a member of the editorial features team, writing and editing numerous impactful stories on subjects ranging from teen dating violence to childhood obesity.

In 2005, she was named Executive Editor, managing the editorial team to implement the brand’s creative vision, as well as overseeing staffing, systems, operations and the magazine’s operating budget.

Prior to joining ESSENCE, she served in a variety of editorial capacities at publications such as Life and Glamour. An award-winning journalist and coauthor of the bestselling beauty and empowerment book, Tyra Banks Beauty Inside & Out, De Luca has been a featured guest on several national television networks, including NBC’s TODAY Show; MSNBC’s Morning Joe; CNN; HLN; and more.

De Luca received her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in English and American Literature from Harvard University, and her Master of Science in Magazine Concentration from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She sits on the board of directors of ColorComm, a networking organization for women of color in communications, and the International Black Women’s Public Policy Institute.

Her honors include Advertising Age’s A-List for 2015, a distinguished Alumni Award from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, and two American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) Award nominations for Video and General Excellence in the Service and Lifestyle category.

She was also named by Fortune Magazine as one of the 55 Most Powerful Women on Twitter. De Luca has successfully fostered strong ties with key civic and political leaders. She was personally invited to the White House by First Lady Michelle Obama to moderate a panel of intergenerational women who have played a pivotal role in the civil rights movement—both past and present—during their honoring Black History Month event entitled, Celebrating Women of the Movement. De Luca resides with her family in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
